School Speed Test

Is your school’s Internet access fast enough for digital learning?

TEST MY SCHOOL

What was the national school speed test?

In 2013, we conducted a nationwide effort to measure the available bandwidth in every classroom in the United States through.

  • We partnered with 30 states and gathered more than 800,000 school speed tests
  • The tests identified 63% of schools in the U.S. needed an Internet upgrade
  • 40 million students without the broadband needed for digital learning

Meeting the demands of today’s digital classrooms

Alongside state and school district leaders, policymakers, and advocates, we’ve made incredible progress.

  • 40.7 million more students have high-speed Internet access than did in 2013
  • 98% of school districts can now take advantage of digital learning
  • 94% of schools without scalable infrastructure have been upgraded to fiber-optic connections. That’s 21,600 schools.
