Connected Nation welcomes Emily Jordan to lead Connect K-12

Earlier this year, we selected Connected Nation and Funds For Learning as partners to carry forward our mission of upgrading the broadband in America’s K-12 schools.

We’re thrilled to share that Connected Nation (CN) recently welcomed Emily Jordan as Vice President of Connect K-12. She will lead the launch of the initiative later this year as part of our partnership with Connected Nation and Funds For Learning.

Jordan brings extensive experience in policy and advocacy to the CN team. She previously worked as a special education teacher for five years, where she developed her passion for accessibility, organization, and sound public policy.

Connect K-12 is a free internet pricing and speed transparency tool for US K-12 school districts. Powered by open E-rate data, it provides the broadband data and pricing information needed to upgrade each public K-12 school’s bandwidth to the Federal Communication Commission’s 1 Mbps per student goal. The beta version is currently available.

With the inevitable changes to school operations due to the coronavirus pandemic, digital learning will be an increasing part of every student’s educational journey from kindergarten through high school. That means that access to affordable broadband will remain critical to student success. Connect K-12 will continue to serve as a resource for state and school district leaders working to ensure that bandwidth is never a bottleneck to student learning as we prepare our students for the world beyond the physical – or virtual – classroom.

We are excited to work with Emily over the next few months as the team prepares for the launch of an updated version of the tool this fall.
