Our Mission: Ensure Our K-12 Students Have Access to Learning-Ready Internet

We are leading the way to upgrade every American K-12 public school to have a robust, learning-ready (100 Mbps+) Internet connection so our students and educators can leverage the transformative power of online learning.

Our goal is to close the K-12 Digital Divide and open the door to new learning and teaching opportunities for all our students and teachers. We are doing this by eliminating the roadblocks that keep schools from an upgrade through four key programs:

Take an Inventory

We are measuring the available Internet bandwidth in every K-12 school in America with our SchoolSpeedTest. By collecting this information, we can help assess schools' readiness for digital learning and develop plans to get 100 Mbps+ to schools that don't have it.

Provide Technical Expertise

We are creating a best practice based Network "Cookbook" to help school districts upgrade their networks and our Education Geek Squad is providing technical expertise to schools during the implementation process.

Reduce the Cost of Upgrading Schools

Picture
We are creating pricing transparency between school districts, facilitating school buying consortia, and building networks of public, private, and nonprofit groups organizations to help reduce the costs for schools and aggregate demand.

Evidence-based Advocacy

We have elevated K-12 Internet infrastructure to be a key policy issue for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the US Department of Education, and other state and federal policy makers.  Our goal - maximize the impact of the $2.5 billion of E-Rate program.
